Lightweight Aluminium Dummy Truck Hub                       Site Based Wheel Nut Torque Training

During 2011 IDM Engineering assisted Bridgestone Tyres Training Department with the design and fabrication of a lightweight, portable dummy truck hub to be used in a classroom enviroment for training tyre fitters to correctly torque down truck wheels.

The training device needs to be strong, lightweight, portable and easy to use as this is transported all around the UK for on site training sessions.

We enjoyed working with Phil Thirsk of Bridgestone who kindly emailed the above photos and below comment:

"Morning and a Happy New Year to all at IDM.

Please find attached a couple of Photos of the rig you made for us, we are using it more and more and the course has now been fully adopted by the IRTE (Institute of Road Transport Engineers)with the providing CPD certificates.

Thanks again for all you help.

Regards,

Phil Thirsk

1973 Triumph Bonneville

07.01.2011

Our very own MD Terry Smith has been showing the boys his skills with a full restoration of his 1973 Triumph Bonneville motorbike.

The project has involved a full to frame strip down and rebuild including replacement or reconditioning of nearly all components, all the work including painting was carried out by Terry himself.  Terry has been riding this bike since he was an apprentice.

The results speak for themselves:

The Golf currently looks like this:
